Miles of sun-warmed sand slide right up to Atlantic surf along the shores of popular seaside spot, Myrtle Beach, a family-oriented destination close to golf greens, parks and sandcastles.
The Palmetto trail now extends to the Intracoastal waterway. In March 2002, a 7- mile trail was opened extending the trail from the Buck Hall Recreation Area, in McClellanville to the Swamp Fox Trailhead on Highway 17. Starting from Buck Hall Recreation Area, the first 5 miles of trail follow the creek through piney sand ridges, live oak shaded passages, and across tidal creeks with views of the marsh and Intracoastal waterway.
