South Carolina National Heritage Corridor

Both Discovery Centers are open Tuesday- Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Closes at noon on Christmas Eve and closed on the following holidays: Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, July 4th.

 Directions

Region 1 information
From I-85, take exit 19A onto Hwy 76/178 and go for 6.4 miles. Turn left onto Federal Street and the CVB is the second driveway on the left.

The Region 2 Discovery Center is located at 405 Main Street, Edgefield, SC 29824. From I-20 take exit 18 -Hwy 19 to Johnston/ Edgefield. Hwy 19 changes to Hwy 25 in Trenton, SC. Follow Hwy 25 into downtown Edgefield.

The Region 3 Discovery Center is located at 87 Heritage Road, Blackville, SC 29817, just 3 miles West of Blackville on Highway 78. From I-20, take exit 22 toward Aiken, turn left on US Hwy 1, turn left on SC 118, left on US Hwy 78 (Richland Avenue) and follow for 25 miles. Turn right onto Research Road and immediate left onto Heritage Road. For additional information, please phone (803) 284-3976.

Region 4, the Charleston area, is located on the coast of South Carolina, midway between Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island. It is easily accessible by car...I-26 has its eastern terminus in Charleston and connects with I-20, I-85, I-40, I-77 and I-95 from the north. US Highway 17, the coastal north-south route, runs through Charleston and connects with I-95 from the south.


 Climate
 

South Carolina has a mild climate and is warm throughout the year. July is the hottest month with the average range of high temperature of 90-95° Fahrenheit. The coastal and mountain towns average slightly lower temperatures. Average January temperatures throughout the state range from 50 to 60° Fahrenheit.
