Description
This biking/hiking trail winds through the southeastern-central part of the Long Cane Ranger District.
This 12-mile linear trail follows Wine and Turkey Creeks. The northern portion of the trail begins at the paved parking lot on Highway 283 and travels southwest for 5 miles to Key Bridge and is often called the Wine Creek portion of the trail. The trail continues on from Key Bridge for 7 miles to end on FS 617A. This portion of the trail is usually called the Turkey Creek portion of the trail.
Numerous access points give you a choice of various lengths and durations of your visit. Wine Creek is about 10 feet wide and has rocky bottoms. Its pools are similar to those of more mountainous areas. By contrast, Turkey Creek is slow moving and wider. With occasional departures to climb ridges, this trail generally follows the fi rst fl at area above the water. Try your luck at fi shing in Wine and Turkey Creeks.
